Empowering students to find innovative solutions to complex problems that benefit their global community
The American Community School in Amman (ACS), Jordan has approximately 800 students representing 50 countries. We live in a unique part of the world that is experiencing rapid change and challenges. Coming from different backgrounds, our students are keenly aware of the local, regional, and global challenges we face. Our student profile challenges students to become creators and innovators, critical and reflective thinkers, and collaborators. These 21st century skills are imperative to empower our students for their future. We believe the Design Thinking method is an ideal way for us to develop these skills in our students.
The focus of our work is to promote social entrepreneurship, and challenge the students to find solutions to the issues they face locally, regionally, and globally. We believe that by training students in Design Thinking, and providing them with dedicated time to develop a passion project, that we can allow students to demonstrate exceptional 21st Century Skills before they transition to college. Our goal is to provide the facilities, and time, for students to become makers, creators, and designers of the future.
